Festive Sweater Manicure

Boy did I think I was in trouble with this one. I didn’t think I was going to be able to do anything like what other Instagrammers were doing with this #clairestelle8dec prompt! I wasn’t even sure I had a pattern that would look like a sweater. I spent hours, spanning over several days, looking on Pinterest and Instagram for a look I could duplicate. I was thrilled to discover my set of Pueen plates did have a pattern that looked like a Christmas sweater. (See – these challenges do help you color outside the lines a little bit!)

When I finally got down to it, I messed this up multiple times. I knew better than to paint all my nails and leave the accent for last – so I started there. I tried gradient stamping with various colors and I tried tone-on-tone. After four failed attempts, I finally figured out how to get the lines on straight and what you see is the final result. It’s right in line with my typical quiet, neutral, office-worthy nail art. The matte top coat is what makes this one special. Maybe next year I’ll do something a little flashier.
