Orly Gumdrop Springtime Spirals

This is the first time I’ve used this polish: Orly Gumdrop. It’s a creamy, thick formula and opaque in just one coat. It was released in Spring of 2010. The color can be described as Tiffany blue-mint green or a dark aRobin’s egg blue color… or maybe a light turquoise. Regardless, I happen to adore it. It’s perfect for spring and pairs well with many other colors and looks great on many skintones.

I wasn’t sure what to do on my nails today. Last night I spent hours trying to do a “Cherry Blossom” look on my nails for a new nail art challenge I’ve never participated in; #NailArtChallengeApril. I tried three different techniques and it was all a disaster. I ended up giving up around one in the morning and going to bed with naked nails. There is something about freehand nail art I just cannot conquer. Maybe it’s my tools, maybe it’s my technique but it always ends up looking like something a preschooler might have drawn. Very frustrating.

So, after last night, I decided to go with a color I loved and keep it really simple. #ClaireStelle8 was doing a nail art challenge too:

So, this morning I dug through all my plates and found just one pattern with a spiral in it. That pattern, (on plate 37 from the Pueen Love set) and this delicious color Gumdrop were what I settled on. As usual, the glitter top coat isn’t coming through particularly well on the photographs at all – even in the sunshine. But it’s still pretty.  And it still fits the ticket for the challenge prompt.
