Purple Art Deco Nails

Mighty hard nail art prompt for me this time – I almost skipped it.  “Cities” is what is supposed to inspire my nails this time around in the #ClaireStelle8April nail art challenge. But – I don’t have any city skyline plates and I can’t freehand. So, what do I do? I go off the rails a bit, that’s what.

I went Art Deco. Not really a city – but there are some cities just teeming with it. San Antonio. London, Miami – and there are pockets of it all over the world. So – that counts, right? I can say my nails are “London” nails…. right? Right. Here’s a pic from London to prove it:

See all those art-deco-y shapes in the carpet? (I have no idea what you really call them) They resemble this pattern:

Here’s more from that same venue. Check out that ceiling! What a masterpiece:

So, that’s it. My city inspired nails are inspired by the great Art Deco movement. It was a fairly easy manicure. After the basecoat, I did three coats of the purple, covered it with a fast dry topcoat and then stamped the Art Deco shapes on in silver. Once dry, I sealed it all in with another fast dry topcoat layer. I used liquid latex before stamping and the cleanup was very minimal.

So – what do you think, do they look like Art Deco nails to you or are they too different and too modern?
