This is reaaaaaaly ooooold polish of mine. So old in fact, I had trouble deciphering what brand it is – the printing is almost all worn off the bottle. I don’t have any idea where I got the bottle either. But, I have it, so I’m going to swatch it for you!
The color and finish:
This is a brown “shimmer” polish. The color makes me think of deep autum, when everything is some shade of brown. It’s not an ugly brown – but since it’s April 15th today, I’m really not feeling this color today.
You can see from the picture that it’s application is kinda streaky and uneven. It took two coats to build up opacity – but I’d recommend three. It took f-o-r-e-v-e-r to dry. It also has not held up well at all – this photo was taken after only 1/2 day of wear and the tips are already rubbing off and there’s nicks in it – and that’s topped with Seche Vite! I don’t have that trouble with any of my newer polishes at all where I can easily get five days out of a manicure before chipping and wear begin in earnest. (Which is incredible since I spend so much time at a computer during the week!)
I’m sure some of my problems are directly related to the age of this polish. My guess is that it is over twenty years old. However, it’s a pretty color, and I think stamped on top of a lighter brown or olive green would render something beautiful, so I’m keeping it. 🙂
Do you have any bottles of polish so old you’re embarrassed to admit it? Tell me about it below!
