Brown & Gold Autumn Owl Nail Art

Yay! I finally had time to do my nails! It’s been soooo long! …however, let me tell you – with a one month old, this didn’t happen all in one sitting. No siree! It took three different chunks of time to get this done. Naptimes are such a blessing!

Being September and all, I decided to stick with a neutral color theme. If you’ve explored much of this blog at all, you know I’m a big fan of neutrals. With the #ClaireStelle8Sep prompt of “Owl” to guide me, this is what I created. It’s not as fancy as I’d have liked (I wanted to color his little belly gold and add some leaves or feathers onto the gold nail) but I just didn’t have time. That’s okay though – it’ll happen again. In the meantime, I’ll need to be industrious and plan ahead for what I’m going to do before I start so I don’t waste nap time trying to figure out what I’m creating on my nails. Plan ahead.

Lately, I’ve really started to like glitter. Maybe it’s been the heat as I generally stay with creme finishes, but there’s just something attracting me to them right now… maybe it’s a phase, maybe not. With cooler weather coming I am having visions of all kinds of sparkly nails! Halloween, Thanksgiving and ohhh – Christmas! There’s ample opportunity for glitter and sparkly nail polishes in the next three months. You can see, I couldn’t bypass using a bit of shimmer on this mani either.

This was pretty straightforward, as far as technique goes. I painted my ring finger white, my middle finger gold and the rest of them brown. Then I used the same brown to stamp the owl. I topped with a fast-drying polish and called it good. Simple and perfect to welcome in Autumn!
